“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
— Thomas Merton
In stillness, before the dance begins
For Jui Deshingkar, dance has always been more than an art form, it is the force that gives life its direction. Art, for her, is a feeling of bliss, one that holds her hand and draws her closer to the Ultimate Truth. Through her knowledge of dance and music, she carries this experience into everything she does and wishes to share it with everyone.
As a TeacherJui is a passionate dancer, a warm-hearted teacher, and a creative performing artist based in Zurich, Switzerland. As a teacher, she works with students at every level, from beginners taking their first steps to advanced practitioners deepening their understanding. Her approach integrates the practice of asanas and meditation alongside classical dance, offering a holistic experience that attends to posture, focus, and body awareness, as much as India’s roots in the Puranas, mythology, and philosophy. This work continues to grow under Aalayam, Centre for Performance and Wellness, a platform she has founded to bring dance, fitness, and mindful practice together for students and seekers across continents.
As a CollaboratorBeyond the classroom, she actively collaborates with fellow professionals and artists working in their respective fields, bringing together diverse expertise in the pursuit of meaningful creative work.
Dance
Bharatanatyam Shastriya Dance · since 2012
Trained under Mrs. Priya Nimkar-Joshi, Jui has been performing and teaching Bharatanatyam since 2012 — a form rooted in Shastra, or science. It remains at the heart of her practice, which she shares professionally with students from beginner to advanced levels.
Bollywood Dance & Choreography since 2018
Since 2018, Jui has performed and choreographed Bollywood dance for Indian weddings, corporate events, and stage shows — bringing energy, precision, and a keen artistic sensibility to each.
Contact Improvisation since 2023
Introduced to this form in 2023, Jui has been drawn to its flow and spontaneity ever since. She continues to explore Contact Improvisation actively, and recognises its particular value in ensemble and team-building contexts.
Workshop Exposures
Jui has participated in workshops across a breadth of styles, including Kalbelia (Rajasthani folk dance), the Martha Graham technique, Kodiyattam, and Belly dance — each broadening her artistic vocabulary.
